Introduction to Tapestry of Healing Contemporary society has turned healing into medicine and medicine into a sophisticated job of plumbing. “Tapestry of Healing” describes the evolution of a marriage of Western medicine and Reiki that transforms the practice of medicine back into healing. Reiki, an ancient hands-on healing art, brings harmony to the body, mind, and spirit. Historically, the teaching of Reiki had been a strictly verbal tradition. Over the years I have discovered, to my dismay, that many of my own students as well as the students of other Reiki Masters are often hesitant to use their healing abilities because they have forgotten much of the information that was presented in their classes. It is with these people in mind that I decided to include not only the story of my experiences, but a basic course in energy medicine and Reiki in this book. I have attempted to share all the pearls and pitfalls that I have encountered on my personal journey into energy medicine. The material in this book has been presented in a way that should be easily understood by those with no previous knowledge of Eastern healing arts. My goal is to inform the uninitiated while still providing some new insights for the experienced healer. I believe the integration of Western medicine with Energy medicine helps us to achieve a level of health and healing that is infinitely greater than either school can achieve on its own. It is my sincere hope that sharing my experiences will encourage others to open themselves to the possibility of accepting this medical marriage.
